The Fan Mosaic Rug brings a strong graphic rhythm to the floor through repeated fan-shaped sunburst motifs arranged across a warm mustard-gold ground. Deep navy blue lines radiate from compact centers, creating a pattern that resembles overlapping fans or stylized shells. The irregular outline follows the movement of the motifs, with rounded scallops and pointed sections giving the rug a sculptural presence.

A Repeating Fan Pattern

The design is built around repeated radial fan forms. Each motif starts from a small navy center and expands outward through evenly spaced lines, creating a sense of movement across the surface. The individual fans overlap visually, forming a connected geometric field rather than isolated decorative symbols.

The mustard-gold background gives the pattern warmth, while the navy blue creates a strong contrast. A subtle rust-colored edge frames the shaped perimeter and adds another warm detail to the composition. Together, these colors give the geometric rug a rich character that works especially well with wood, leather, brass, dark stone, and neutral furnishings.

Hand Tufted Craftsmanship

The Fan Mosaic Rug is suited to hand tufted construction, allowing the artisan to build each fan motif with controlled lines and carefully defined shapes. The raised pile gives the navy pattern a tactile quality against the mustard ground, while the shaped perimeter requires careful finishing around every curve and point.

Wool works particularly well for this type of handcrafted carpet. Its natural structure provides a comfortable surface underfoot while allowing the artisan to maintain definition across repeated radial patterns. The resulting rug has both visual depth and a soft, substantial feel.

Mustard and Navy for a Distinctive Interior

The mustard and navy combination gives this abstract rug a warm yet structured appearance. It can work as the primary patterned element in a room with otherwise restrained furnishings. Cream, beige, off-white, walnut, dark brown, and charcoal can all sit comfortably alongside the palette.

In a living room, place the rug beneath a sofa and coffee table while leaving enough of the irregular edge visible to appreciate its shape. A brown or cognac leather sofa can reinforce the warm tones, while navy upholstery can connect with the radial pattern.

For a lounge, pair it with sculptural chairs, a round coffee table, or brass accents. In a bedroom, the warm ground can add depth around a neutral bed frame. The design can also work in an office, study, or entry area where a distinctive geometric floor covering can define the space.

An Irregular Silhouette

The perimeter is an important part of the Fan Mosaic Rug. Instead of using a conventional rectangle, the edge moves in and out around the repeating fan forms. Rounded projections, curved recesses, and pointed sections create a free-flowing outline that gives the carpet a more sculptural quality.

This irregular rug works particularly well with contemporary architecture because its organic perimeter softens rooms dominated by straight walls, cabinetry, flooring, and furniture. The internal geometry keeps the overall design organized while the outer edge adds visual movement.

Styling Ideas

• Living Room: Use it beneath a central seating arrangement to establish a strong patterned foundation.
• Lounge: Pair the navy and mustard palette with leather seating, brass details, and dark wood.
• Bedroom: Position a larger size beneath the bed to introduce pattern and warmth around the furniture.
• Office: Place it beneath a seating area to add character without filling the room with additional patterns.
• Entry or Hallway: The elongated irregular shape can work naturally in spaces where a standard rectangular rug feels too predictable.
• Creative Studio: Use the radial artwork as a visual feature alongside contemporary furniture and artwork.

Balancing the Room Around the Rug

Because the Fan Mosaic Rug already contains a repeated graphic pattern, the surrounding room can remain relatively simple. Solid upholstery and lightly textured curtains allow the fan motifs to remain clear. Wood furniture complements the mustard ground, while navy accessories can create a subtle connection with the pattern.

For a more dramatic interior, combine the rug with dark cabinetry, brown leather, black stone, and warm metallic finishes. For a lighter room, use cream upholstery, pale walls, natural timber, and minimal accessories. The rug can then provide the main source of color and pattern.

Custom Rug Sizes

The Fan Mosaic Rug can be made in standard dimensions including 4x6, 5x7, 5x8, 6x8, 6x9, 7x10, 8x10, 8x11, 9x12, 10x13 and 12x15. The right size depends on the furniture arrangement and the amount of shaped perimeter you want to keep visible.

Care for Your Hand Tufted Wool Rug

Regular gentle vacuuming helps remove dust and everyday debris from the wool surface. Use a suitable vacuum setting and avoid aggressive brushing over the raised navy pattern and shaped edges.

If a spill occurs, blot the area promptly with a clean absorbent cloth rather than rubbing the pile. Avoid excessive water and prolonged moisture. For deeper cleaning, professional rug cleaning is recommended for a hand tufted wool carpet.

A Handmade Geometric Statement

The Fan Mosaic Rug combines radial fan motifs, a mustard-gold ground, navy blue patterning, warm edging, and an irregular silhouette into one distinctive floor piece. Its repeated geometry creates visual order, while the shaped perimeter keeps the design expressive and sculptural.
